Welcome to the Poker Deck Barossa Cookie Policy. This page explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on our website, the types of cookies we deploy, why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences. We are an offline poker venue in Adelaide, South Australia, and our website is designed to provide information about our Poker Room, Card Lounge, and real poker tables. This policy is part of our commitment to transparency and compliance with applicable privacy laws, including the Australian Privacy Principles.
Effective date: 14 September 2026
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your actions and preferences over time, improving your browsing experience. Cookies can be session-based, meaning they are deleted when you close your browser, or persistent, meaning they are stored for a set period of time. Similar technologies include local storage and web beacons, which serve comparable functions. Cookies are used to enhance website functionality and analytics.
These cookies are necessary for the website to function properly. They enable core features such as page navigation and access to secure areas. For example, they remember your 21+ age confirmation so you don't see the popup on every visit. These cookies do not collect personal information for marketing purposes. Essential cookies are always active and cannot be disabled.
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the website by collecting anonymous information about page visits, traffic sources, and user behaviour. We use this data to improve the site's performance and content. All data is aggregated and does not identify individual users. Analytics cookies may be set by third-party services like Google Analytics.
Functional cookies allow the website to remember choices you make, such as language preferences or region, to provide a more personalised experience. These cookies may also be used to remember your cookie consent preferences. They are not strictly necessary but enhance usability. Functional cookies can be disabled, but some features may not work correctly.
The following table lists the cookies used on the Poker Deck Barossa website, their purpose, duration, and type. All cookies are first-party except analytics cookies, which may be set by Google.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| age_verified | Stores confirmation that the visitor is 21+ | 30 days | Essential |
| cookie_consent | Records the visitor's cookie preferences | 1 year | Functional |
| _ga | Used by Google Analytics to distinguish users | 2 years | Analytics |
| _gid | Used by Google Analytics to throttle request rate | 24 hours | Analytics |
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically block all cookies, block third-party cookies, or delete cookies when you close your browser. Instructions vary by browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge each have their own privacy and security menus. Disabling essential cookies may affect the website's functionality, such as the 21+ age verification. You can also use browser extensions or privacy tools to manage cookies.
To opt out of Google Analytics tracking, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or adjust your browser settings to block analytics cookies. This will not affect essential cookies required for site functionality. Google Analytics opt-out is available for all major browsers.
We use Google Analytics to understand website usage. Google Analytics may set cookies on your device to collect anonymous data about your visit. Google's privacy policy governs the use of data collected by these cookies. We do not share any personal information with third parties for advertising purposes. Third-party cookies are subject to the respective third party's privacy policies.
When you first visit our website, you are presented with a cookie consent banner. By clicking 'Accept', you consent to the use of non-essential cookies as described in this policy. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies or adjusting your settings. Essential cookies do not require consent because they are necessary for the website to function. Your consent is stored in a functional cookie for 1 year. The 21+ age verification popup is separate from the cookie consent banner.
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. The latest version will always be posted on this page with the effective date clearly stated. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Significant changes will be highlighted on the website. Current effective date: 14 September 2026.
